Fornicatus "Vive Memor Leti" (2013) [Review. English / Russian]

Fornicatus is a Finnish three-piece band playing classical DSBM. It was founded in 2006 and since then it has been releasing short, but very good albums almost every year. “Vive Memor Leti” was released in 2010 and it was re-released in 2013. The differences between the two editions are the covers, a track order and also the absence of Hypothermia covers. 

“Vive Memor Leti” is an anthem of despair and depression that lasts for more than an hour. If you really like music of Fornicatus, then I’m sure you like this album also. The sound of this album is pretty similar to the sound of the other Fornicatus albums (“Razorsunday” and “Omnium Animalis Terminus”, as I’m talking only about important releases, not about splits).

Lathspell "Impious Incantations" (2014) [Review. English / Russian]

Lathspell. Lathspell. Lathspell. It’s another name on Finnish Black Metal scene that has been lost somewhere in the shadows of more famous bands from the land of a thousand lakes. It’s another band that hasn’t been recognized properly. And this band isn’t too young; it has a quite good discography. Unfortunately, the band died in 2012, but it’s possible that it was some kind of sacrifice for the creation of Hautakammio, Oath and Kalmankantaja, the last one has appeared in the moment of Lathspell’s death.

The band promised to release the final album and it kept the promise. The 4th and the last Lathspell album was released on Misanthropic Art Productions in July 2014. I think that the band members have worked on every detail. Well, it should always be like that, but there were some drawbacks on previous albums, however, there’re no of them here. Everything is ideal. 

Interview with Coldbound

Hi. For many the name Coldbound will be new therefore for a start tell about itself and about that that inspired you on Coldbound creation.

Hello Stas, Thanks first of all for the chance you give me to talk about my project. So let's start , Coldbound is the sum of some really personal experiences which I don't want to talk about anymore, therefore I am not publishing so far any of my lyrics . It's the dark side of me , if you see me in the daily life I am most of the time cheered up and because of my job (in kindergarden) . Passion for music and my own experiences drove me to start the project of Coldbound.

You are the only participant of Coldbound, whether arose at you thoughts on expansion of structure to full-fledged group or the invitation of guest musicians for record of concrete songs? In Finland after all there are a lot of the musicians who are especially playing black metal.

This is something I have been thinking a lot after the release of the second full length album. It's really easy to find musicians in Finland because there's metal all over . But as I said I want to keep Coldbound something personal . Although because I cannot deny that I love music, a new project is on the building right now with members from the finnish bands Crimfall and Hatefury/White Mist and this project is gonna be called "Reverence", a furious black metal project with lot's of symphonic elements. Sorry but I cannot reveal more he-he.

Приветствую!  В августе прошлого года вы дали свой первый концерт за 5 лет, какие ощущения у вас были после этого выступления? Почему вы так долго не выходили на сцену?

Necron: Было отлично! За пять лет мы отыграли множество концертов с другими проектами, и было здорово находиться на сцене в этом составе. Всё прошло так, как мы и хотели. Почему столько времени не было концертов? Наверное, потому, что раньше мы не были готовы к выступлениям. Но сейчас мы готовы!

В тот вечер вы сделали запись выступления и выпустили в виде сплита-альбома. Что можешь сказать о других группах, которые выступали с Вами в тот день? Почему вы решили издать его на кассетах и издать таким маленьким тиражом?

Incisura: Честно говоря, я плохо знаком с теми группами. Похоже, Axeslaughter – активная концертная группа, которая хорошо справляется со своей работой, не у многих коллективов есть хороший ударник, который может в это же время исполнять и вокальные партии. Мне не очень нравятся подростки Blasphemous Witchcraft, которые меняют название каждые шесть месяцев, год назад они назывались Black Feast, тогда - Blasphemous Witchcraft, а сегодня – Witchcraft, и наконец они достигли того возраста, когда им могут продавать пиво. Мы были немного удивлены, когда этот концерт вышел в качестве сплита. Там плохой звук, но этот релиз может называться “официальным”, ведь наши треки были взяты с нашего разрешения.

Interview with Coprolith

Привет! Недавно Вы выпустили свой второй альбом "Death March". Я могу сказать, что он чертовски хорош с первого до последнего трека. Как долго Вы работали над ним? Были ли какие-то трудности и значительные различия при его записи по сравнению с дебютом "Cold Grief Relief"?

Спасибо! Я начал работу над материалом ещё в 2011. Всё было готово к 2012, когда мы выпустили миньон Hate Infected. Но из-за моей занятости в других проектах мне пришлось отложить выход Death March. Это хорошо, потому что это позволило мне доработать некоторые композиции, написать новые. В сравнении с процессом записи Cold Grief Relief, работа над Death March в целом была легче. Я, так сказать, начал всё с чистого листа. Песни CGR были очень старыми на момент начала записи. Поэтому мы с большим интересом записывали Death March.

На "Death March" у вас получилось довольно самобытное, но очень качественное звучание. То есть, я вижу, что Вы не пытались сделать звук на альбоме в духе кого-то более известного, чем страдают сейчас многие Blackened Death Metal группы. Звук на "Death March" заметно отличается от "Cold Grief Relief", на котором он был более приблэкованный. Почему вы решили отказаться от того звука и перейти к более сочному и чистому дэт-металическому?

Качество записи на CGR и Death March сильно отличаются. Мне нравится такой звук, поэтому результат удовлетворительный. Большое спасибо Väinö Komulainen’у (Musiikkiveistämö) за микширование и мастеринг. На этот раз было проще.
